Provided Services
Custom Aircraft Artwork has been created to provide pilots, aircraft owners, and aircraft enthusiests a way to own a custom drawing of just about any aircraft. We are dedicated to providing a highly detailed and owner specific drawing that you will be proud to hang in your home, office, or hangar. Below are the specifics of the type of artwork we create and what is required by the customer to complete your drawing. We also offer reproductions of certain pieces. Please visit the ORDER ARTWORK page for details.
Types of Artwork Provided
We at Custom Aircraft Artwork only recreate aircraft in pencil form. All drawings are completed on high quality acid free paper, which when properly cared for will last many years. We create each piece by hand with no use of generic templates which provides the customer with a unique drawing of the aircraft you supply. Because of the nature of pencil drawings we try to minimize unnecessary backgrounds which sometimes can take focus away from the aircraft and can clutter the picture. That being said we can accomodate if it is a priority for you to add a low detail background or a specific object in the drawing. Be aware that we offer three sizes to choose from. The smaller the size the less detail we will be able to incorporate into the drawing while the larger sizes will be more detailed and true to life.
What is Required from the Customer
Depending on what type of drawing you would like we may require more than one photo. If you would like a specific angle (i.e. aicraft in flight) then we may require two or three photos to complete your artwork. The best types of photos for your drawing are those taken in indirect light (i.e. not on extremly bright days) with sparse backgrounds and in many instances photos that show off the specifics of the aircraft (i.e. Registration number or a specific paint scheme). The best drawings come from photos taken in well lit hangars or on partly cloudy days. It is up to you how you want your picture to look or you can leave it up to us to provide a balanced and clear drawing of your aircraft. We accept photos in both digital (email or submitted through our order form) or paper form via "snail mail". Many times digital photos are only clear enough when downloaded directly from a digital camera with the highest resolution (quality) as possible rather than scanned from a paper photo. To make it easy on the customer we will contact you if the photo is not suitable and give hints on how to correct the problem.
Framing and Shipping
Framing services are available at additional cost and time. We typically don't frame drawings due to the large number of variations in frame material, color, size, and mat which largely depends on your decor. If you have a specific size and color of frame that you would like we will have it framed for you at an additional cost. Please note that framing will add considerably to shipping costs so we recommend you frame the picture once you recieve it. Each drawing is shipped in a mailing tube to ensure an undamaged product so framing is not necessary in most cases.
Personnal Service and Communication
We want every aspect of your drawing to be unique and outstanding. Throughout the process of completing your drawing we will make sure that your needs are met. We will communicate with you if we need more information for the picture (clearer photos or a different angle) or if there is an aspect of the process that needs clarification. We want your artwork to make you smile and bring the joy of flying to you whenever you look at it. The process of creating your unique drawing should be no different.
Wait Time
Due to the fact that each piece of artwork is custom drawn the lead time for completion can take up to 45 days. In most cases pieces may be completed sooner and you will be notified when the piece is complete and ready for shipping.
